Physician burnout has become an increasingly critical issue that requires immediate attention. Understanding how to better support learners earlier in their journey is key. While efforts to improve medical student well-being have increased, long-term research on the barriers to well-being and the effectiveness of interventions—both within and beyond institutions—remains limited. This literature review synthesizes existing research to highlight key gaps and applies the KNN framework (character, caring, practical wisdom) to shed light on the path to flourishing. Seeking to mitigate discovered barriers to flourishing, we’ll create a new school-wide event called Flourishing Fest (May 2025) and do pre- and post-participation surveys to measure our success.
