My first study of the human form was as an undergraduate studio art major. I searched for a path where I could blend the anatomical sciences with the arts. This led to a concentration on the human figure, which involved over 100 hours of drawing, painting, and sculpting from a live model. Each medium & style presents their own challenges and distortions from photorealism, but the physical form prevailed with its unmistakable contours. I gained an appreciation for the small details—the play of light and shadow on the face and the intricate vasculature of the hands.
